《Ode to a Nightingale》 by John Keats __

《Ode to a Nightingale》 『
1.
My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains
My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk,
Or emptied some dull opiate to the drains
One minute past, and Lethe-wards had sunk:
‘Tis not through envy of thy happy lot,
But being too happy in thine happiness,—
That thou, light-winged Dryad of the trees
In some melodious plot
Of beechen green, and shadows numberless,
Singest of summer in full-throated ease.

Brad Gushue.

Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art—
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature’s patient, sleepless Eremite,
Continue reading

In drear-nighted December,
Too happy, happy tree,
Thy branches ne’er remember
Their green felicity:
The north cannot undo them不由北風除去
With a sleety whistle through them; 你的枝柯不被嶊傷
Nor frozen thawings glue them 凍結不解封固
From budding at the prime. Continue reading

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

《Excepts from In the Quest for Speed》__ Lau Kam Yin (73)

While in high school, my passion was actually not in science or academic subjects, instead, I was deep into painting and art, specifically modern Chinese ink painting under the tutelage of my high school art teacher Lawrence Tam, a beloved teacher whom we all affectionately called “Tam-Sir”. I did well enough in that pursuit for one of my paintings to be selected to participate in the 1972 Contemporary Hong Kong Art Exhibition, an open event intended for professional artists. Immediately after the exhibition the painting was acquired by the Hong Kong Museum of Art. I was just 16 years old then. The painting on the right is currently in the permanent collection of the museum.
