Orchids tear dews while asters in doleful misty grey
Silk curtains could not allay this cold
Pairing swallows take hasty leave
The moon could not know our parting grief
It shines till dawn its slanting light strayed into crimson windows

Western gales withered all green trees last night
Alone I ascended the tall tower
To search all the roads under the sky
How I wish to send you my darling a comforting message on ornate paper
Alas where would it go amid long mountain ranges and a boundless sea

In the old pavilion last year’s weather remained fine
When will you come back to celebrate the sun its ray decline

Helplessly I see flowers fade and fall

My fickle lover visits me no more my rift door invites the setting sun
For our vanishing spring I owe you tears in many a stream run

Where do you roam like floating clouds day after day
Remembering not home
Nor spring growing old
