《Tune: Immortal by the River》 Yang Shen (1488-1559)
To the east the Yangzi’s rumbling rapids incessantly roll
Its multiple froths reflect the deeds of many a hero
Rights wrongs wins and defeats all pass in peril
Hills remain green their foliage thrive perpetual
Crimson sunsets shine their brilliance monumental
On the river islet stands a fisherman his hair is grey
In his experience autumn moons and vernal breezes integrate
With a jar of unstrained wine we gladly congregate
On the many events ancient and recent
We dismiss them in our laughter as we drink
