《秋夜醉歸有感》《Returning Home Drunk in an Autumn Night》Mao Rong (Tang Dynasty)
Who says drinking hard can quell sadness in an autumn night
I return from the tavern drunk my sorrow still in bind
Feeling helpless I stare at my sword idly hung on wall
Sleepless I sit keeping company with my lamp fire in stall
Rains batter my bamboo window singing autumn songs
In cold dawn washer women beat their clothes on and on
How much pining for home am I to endure
I stand in the wind ceaselessly scratching my head forlorn
《寫意二首》《Two Poems on Feelings》
At this wild deserted place my door is idly shut
The shaded paths wet with moss clogs leave no mark
I wandered till my hair grey dreams of love no longer on
On cold blankets far from home my heart lingers on
From the high mount water falls I plug my zither time and again
In cool breezes and bright moon a jug of wine I drink
In drunken land beneath trees on my bend arm I lie
Who cares to count glories and failures in an ordinary life
