《Thoughts – Written in Japan》 Qiu Jin (1875-1907)
In gloom neither sun nor moon sheds any light
A woman’s world is down deep with no help in sight
I sold my jewelry to go overseas to see the world
And left my children at home east I go
Unbinding my feet I rid off years of poisons in tradition
With a burning heart I stir up women’s spirit in motion
Behold this kerchief delicate as it appears
Half soaked with blood half with tears
