(Through Rose-Coloured Glasses)

The gloves are off, the war is on. Let’s look into the crystal ball. Definitely an election is brewing. And it is going to be malicious, messy, and dirty.

Judge for yourself.

Here are two recent Conservative attack ads:

(G&M) In the first spot, called “Needless Election,” the narrator asks whether in a time of economic uncertainty we should jeopardize the recovery with an unnecessary trip to the polls. And then he says, “Let’s ask Michael Ignatieff” – at which point, the Liberal Leader pops up screaming “Yes! Yes! Yes!”

(G&M) The second Tory ad released Thursday, called “Job-killing taxes,” focuses on Mr. Ignatieff’s demands to reverse the Conservative corporate tax cuts. It asks whether in a period of fragile economy recovery “it makes sense to raise taxes on job -creators?” The narrator again says, “Let’s ask Michael Ignatieff” – who again is shown shouting “Yes! Yes! Yes!”

(** Interesting, folks, these ads have been taken off YouTube suddenly an hour ago, you may have to wait, hopefully, for a third party to re-load them to the Internet, stay tune)

And here is the origin of the “yes, yes, yes” quote :

Dirty !? Brutal.

Here is the CTV news report of the story, and it included a clip of one of the attack ads (in the second report, Canada AM: Misleading attack ads).
