觀棋柯爛          Watching a game of chess I drop into a timeless sphere
伐木丁丁          As a woodcutter I fell trees in spree
雲邊谷口徐行  At the valley where clouds edge I stroll
賣薪沽酒          Selling firewood I go
狂笑自陶情      Laughing to echo the spirit of poet Tao
蒼逕秋高          Deep in autumn the hill paths are still green
對月枕松根      On a pine root pillow I lie to sleep under moonshine
一覺天明          Till dawn I wake up feeling fine

認舊林                          Up this old forest
登崖過嶺          I scale cliffs and cross ridges
持斧斷枯藤      To cut down withered creepers
收來成一擔      Gathering enough to make up a load
行歌市上          I carry my goods to market singing
易米三升          For three pints of rice in exchange
更無些子爭競  No bargaining
時價平平          It is a fair pricing

不會機謀巧算  I have no interest in using tricks to make gains
沒榮辱                          And care not to win or lose in a game
恬淡延生          Leading a simple life my days and years extend long
相逢處                          In my encounters
非仙即道          Daoists and immortals gather
靜坐講黃庭      To expound the art of happiness as I quietly savour

《舟行》《On a Gliding Boat》

白鷺群翻隔浦風  Where the river enters the sea white cranes frolic
斜陽遙映樹重重  The sun’s slanting rays render distant tree shadows vivid
前村一片雲將雨  Clouds over the distant village signal rains to pour
閒倚船窗看掛龍  I recline on my boat to watch how a rainbow takes form

《天仙子》《Tune: A Fairy Song》

一葉小舟隨所寓  In my skiff home is wherever I float
萬疊煙波無恐懼  Fearing not waves and mists ten thousand folds
垂鉤撒網捉鮮鱗  I catch fishes casting lines and nets
沒醬膩                        No fatty sauce
偏有味                        Fish meat tastes best naturally
老妻稚子團圓會  Together with my wife and child we eat happily

魚多又貨長安市  I sell what is to spare at the Chang An market place
換得香醪吃個醉  To exchange for a good brew for intemperance
簑衣當被臥秋江  On the river in autumn I sleep in my straw shawl
鼾鼾睡                        Thundering in snores
無憂慮                        With nothing to care for
不戀人間榮與貴  Not glory or honour which I deplore

《楊柳青》 《Green Willows》

村旗誇酒蓮花白  Village tavern banners feature white lotus brew
津鼓開帆楊柳青  Roaring drums hurry sails green with willows
壯歲驚心頻客路  Young and fearless I roamed on all roads
故鄉回首幾長亭  Now I pine for my homeland long pavilions show

春深水漲嘉魚味  In late spring fishes thrive in swelling waters
海近風多健鶴翎  Near the sea cranes brave winds in their flutters
誰向高樓橫玉笛  To whom up the tower the flutist sings
落梅愁絕醉中聽  Grieving with falling plums I listen in drunken sheen
