清瑟怨遙夜 A sighing lute laments the night being long
繞弦風雨哀 The string melodies sad as wind and rain
孤燈聞楚角 By the lamplight I hear bugles roaring on
殘月下章台 Beyond Terrace Tower the moon steadily wanes
芳草已雲暮 My best friends are on their searching ways
故人殊未來 My old pals have yet to return with sure dates
鄉書不可寄 I have no way to send messages home
秋雁又南回 The southbound geese had departed early in autumn
