Episode 15 – Madrid
I never imagine Madrid can be so hot. It was high temperature above 40. Walking around under such heat without the help of wine is impossible. I had been consuming more wine than usual. Wine is cheap in Spain. You can find common table wine in super-markets for 1.5 Euro a bottle. If you want Perrier carbonated water, it will be 3 to 4 Euros. What would you pick?
Madrid is full of historical buildings and parks. You can really take it easy in the parks. People come out in the evening with the whole family to enjoy the togetherness.
Don Quixote is a fictional character that runs wild with his imaginations. He does not differentiate between fantasy and reality. He has this inner enemy which he wants to conquer at all times. His journey was interesting to a hard to believe level. But who can argue with success. When you are a celebrity, everything will appear to be right.
Like all churches and cathedrals, they are never short of grandiose. In between the churches are bridges that can reach each other secretly. The cardinals used these secret passage ways without appearing in public.
The colour texture of this ceiling painting is quite different from the usual dark colours. This is a rather airy and bright church compared with the old, dark, smoke filled, quiet, and solemn style church.
Madrid is quite a busy town. The shopping area is packed with people and of course, tourists are the majority. We soon retired back to the hotel and get ready for dinner.
Deep in the afternoon with the heat, we are still circulating around looking for more points of attraction. This is enough. We had to get out of the heat and get ready for dinner.
