Every January, I ask myself why did I come to Toronto ? What a mess up down the road, wind chill during a good walk for one block after parking my car at the Finch subway station, plus the hard feeling across my mind that I have to go home immediately to clean up the snowbank blocking my driveway. All in all, the snow in Toronto is a weather divider telling me the year is drawing to an end.
I empathize what you said…….
• In those long 20+years, I didn’t even have the privy to walk that block to pick up my car; I had to take the public transportation home. Imagine…the infrequent bus service, the packed bus, the snail-crawling drive….and then the ten minutes+ frigid walk, and often with half calf in the snow back in the ‘80s, before I arrived at my door … and to a house of three kids too!
• In my first six and seven years in Toronto, I asked the same question as to why had I come here.
Times changed, perspective changed, men (and women) changed, I changed!
