O soft embalmer of the still midnight,

\nOur gloom-pleas’d eyes, embower’d from the light,

\nO soothest Sleep! if so it please thee, close
\nIn midst of this thine hymn my willing eyes,
\nOr wait the “Amen,” ere thy poppy throws
