{"id":23757,"date":"2017-04-19T22:18:33","date_gmt":"2017-04-20T02:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.wykontario.org\/?p=23757"},"modified":"2017-04-20T20:08:14","modified_gmt":"2017-04-21T00:08:14","slug":"%e3%80%8ahistory-and-cultural-points-in-hks-district%e3%80%8b__-rose-ho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wykontario.org\/?p=23757","title":{"rendered":"\u300aA Volunteer Docent at History and Cultural Points in HKS District\u300b__ Rose Ho"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.wykontario.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Album-HK-S-District-Hist-n-Cultural-points-2016-11-02.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-23759\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.wykontario.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/WindTower-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Last year, I spent considerable time in Hong Kong for family reasons.\u00a0 During my spare time, I became a volunteer docent taking people on a historical and cultural tour in the HK Southern District which stretches from Pokfulam, Aberdeen, Ap Lei Chau, Repulse Bay to Stanley.<\/p>\n<p>[Click the Wind Tower image on the right to enjoy\u00a0the History and Cultural Points in HK South District.]<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This volunteer work is a big incentive for me to dig into the historical, cultural and miscellaneous aspects relating to the people, the place and the structures associated with the site.\u00a0 I prepared a lot for the job as I do not want to be dumb founded when fielded with sort of related but unrelated questions.\u00a0 I learned a lot myself and I retrained my &#8220;memory&#8221; from this job.<\/p>\n<p>I enjoyed taking school kids\u00a0around especially.\u00a0 One day, I document for you some interesting, impromptu and innocent questions the kids raised.<\/p>\n<p>Because I was a no-pay volunteer, I\u00a0could choose my dates, my clients (whom I take around) and my way of guiding (no backward sitting on the bus, that is, I must face the front; no speaking on the bus; a batch telling people I am a Volunteer so the &#8220;clients&#8221; would treat me kindly).
