《Falling Leaves_Two Poems》 Huang Zhao (1788-1853)

(1)
At clear morning deer footprints on moss path cool
Dry leaves many twirl together to pile up full
Crows take to the air in ten thousand dots
Rains and winds in four hills delay autumn not
Approaching old age in life I ought to resign
Inspired by an old monk I am resolved in life
My writings neat in substance read pure and refine
They will be living unlike cold ashes lingering behind

(3)

Thick and thin water inks test the art of blush painting
This artist’s style is similar to the famous blush saint
In lakes and rills a fishing boat floats white
Temples vivid beneath a partly veiled moon in gray sky
The tired visitor from afar is comforted by destination nigh
Chen belief regards the passage of time but sublime
Heavenly powers bestow serenity to all mountain forests
To allow a plum flower shine bright in verdant wilderness
