送杜少府之任蜀州 (唐) 王勃

城阙辅三秦,风烟望五津。
与君离别意,同是宦游人。
海内存知已,天涯若比邻。
无为在歧路,儿女共沾巾。
Tr. YK Chan 陈耀国譯:

Farewell to Deputy Prefect Du on His Way to Take up His Appointment in Shu

by Wang Bo (649-676)

Through this city wall the Three Qins get their support;

In view is the scenery of the five river ports.

Though parting in a farewell mood,

We share a career in bureaucratic pursuit.

Having us as soul mates within the four seas,

Under heaven’s neighborhood bounds it seems.

At the junction where the road divides,

No wiping tears like lovers cry.

  1. 【送杜少府之任蜀州】 唐·王勃
    城闕輔三秦, 風煙望五津。
    與君離別意, 同是宦遊人。
    海內存知己, 天涯若比鄰。
    無為在歧路, 兒女共沾巾。

    Farewell to Vice-Prefect Du Leaving for His Post
    in Shu (Sichuan) Wang Bo (649-676)
    Linking the three Qin districts is this city wall;
    Through wind and haze you’d dimly see five rivers all.
    Now, at this spot we have to part from each other —
    Travelling to remote posts, we serve our ruler.
    Bound by the vast seas, we two remain bosom friends;
    We’re neighbours though we are apart at the sky’s ends!
    Don’t just stand, my friend, at the fork of the road wild —
    And, really, we shan’t be crying like a young child!
